“I’m still a student of the art and business of hairstyling. What I cherish most, though, are the relationships that we develop with each of our guests, and the opportunities to work with new and veteran hairstylist to help them discover the possibilities in our industry. I’m very excited about sharing the unlimited possibilities of touching people’s lives through this profession.”
Nick has been a barber/beauty professional for over 41 years. After a 4-year stint in the US Air Force, Nick decided to go to barber school and planned on working with his father, Joseph, who had a barbershop in Lancaster, PA. During his attendance at the Harrisburg Barber School in Lemoyne PA, he discovered that there were a lot more possibilities to the profession of barbering. After graduating from barber school in 1981, Nick moved to the Harrisburg area and took a position with The Barbers Hairstyling for Men and Women.
Hungry to learn more, Nick started to attend advanced training programs at the Loreal Institute of Design, Zotos Advanced Perming Design, Vidal Sassoon Advanced Academy, Paul Mitchell Advanced Academy, Color Cutting USA, and Regis Corp. He has also received training from the Neurolinguistic Programming Institute and Stephen Covey’s Four Roles of leadership and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People Programs. While a partner in 27 franchised salons, Nick specialized in training and developing staff management and design teams. He has been featured on customer service and technical DVD’s and as guest artist in the Regis Loft Series. He was the first recipient of Regis’ Torchbearer’s Award for exceptional contribution to training and staff development.
Nick has been a national trainer and educator for John Paul Mitchell Systems for more than 35 years. He has earned the titles of Master Associate and Premier National Educator and in 2014 was awarded the prestigious Paul Mitchell Legacy Award. His work has been featured in top fashion and consumer magazines, including Inspire, Passion, Intercoiffure, Hair Styles Today, as well as a feature makeover article/interview in Franchise Times magazine.
Nick has traveled extensively throughout the United States doing seminars, workshops, and hair shows. He has also had the privilege of training and working with top hair stylist in the Soviet Union, Israel, Germany, Spain, Italy, Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, and South Korea.
Nick on his team at JVBS:
“We’ve got an incredible team here Joseph’s Vintage. In 2016, my son, Joe, and I opened Joseph’s Vintage Barbershop & Salon. The initial vision was to combine talents, to offer fashion forward traditional barbering and styling in a family oriented, cozy setting. With Tassia deciding to apprentice, an additional energy was added. She developed a passion for hair extensions and color, adding diversity to our menu options. As our business continued to grow, Tassia became part of our management team to help with customer care, team development, and social media outreach.
Lydia, who I worked with in a previous situation, then came on board, bringing her infectious and outgoing personality and talents. Ali, a licensed cosmetologist, came on board as an apprentice, wanting to get her barber license. Her outgoing personality and sense of humor brought a new dimension to our growing team. Her passion for nail design and care, gave us a kickstart to adding these services to our menu.
Glenn was actually a client of Joey’s since he was 8 years old! He joined our team after graduating from the Camp Hill Barber Styling Institute. He brings a diverse and caring energy as he continues to hone and develop his talents.
Through a recommendation from a client, Jamie came in for a discussion on the possibilities of adding massage therapy to the mix. The chemistry felt right, so she decided to bring her gifts and caring spirit.
Through encouragement from Glenn, Katelyn, a licensed cosmetologist, came in for an interview after completing her hours at Camp Hill Barber Styling Institute. She joined our growing family, bringing with her a diverse skill set, creativity, and sense of purpose. At the same time that Katelyn joined our family, Olivia made the choice to apprentice with us for her barber license while still a junior in high school. She completed her required hours the same month she graduated from high school. She brings an incredible work ethic, hunger to continually learn, and approachable personality.
With Ali in expectant mother mode, she introduced Katie to us to help with nails. With an unassuming demeanor, a dry sense of humor and creative talent, we are grateful that Katie became part of our family.
Our team family members all bring unique, diverse skillsets and attitudes, yet a common purpose of making others look and feel better about themselves. We couldn’t be more grateful for our entire JVBS family.”

Since starting my career in hair, I have grown so much and learned a lot along the way. I always look forward to learning more, whether it be color or styling hair. My favorite thing to do with hair is give someone a new look and help them find their hair personality. “Whether you’re just in town visiting and need a haircut or you’re a long-time resident of the area and need a change of pace. It’s always nice to see people leave happy with their new style, then come back when it gets a little shaggy or want to try something else.” ”
